As many of you know, 2007 was pretty much a roller coaster ride for me. A ride with more bumps and downs than ups and thrills. With the passing of my sister in 2006 and the entire year of 2007 of me breaking down I've come to realize a lot of things.
*I was not ready to say good-bye to my sister - a phrase that to this day has been extremely challenging for me
*I owe a lot of people for helping me mentally and emotionally
*Encouragement is something everyone needs even when you're doing good
*Motivation is something you have to want for yourself
This year I have been truly blessed. I have been focusing my entire life on positive energy and surrounding myself with positive people, I've started a path to a healthier life and lost some pounds, I've achieved a lot of things, and I've opened my hear and found love.
There's always been this famous saying out there that reads there are 3 people in life..."the people that make things happen, the people that watch things happen and the people that ask what the hell happened". In 2007 I was on the end of asking "what the hell happened".
I have so much to be grateful for and I wanted to take a moment to just recognize the people who have helped me and influence me and say some kind words.
-First and foremost I want to thank GOD. Because without you, I am nothing. And everything achieved and accomplished has been because you see fit for me to have. I am a reflection of my father and love no one like I love you. Thank you for everything!
-Christina Marie - my support system. We started off our relationship as co-workers and its bloomed to a friendship that will last forever. Thank you for always encouraging me. For always seeing my beauty. For always pushing me that one extra step. For always believing in me. For the many late nights we'e had, the great fights we've had, the tears, the laughs and the it gets no realer than what we have. When I have nothing in this world, I know I have you. I could never thank you enough for what you have done for me. I've grown so much from knowing you. I've become a different person because of knowing you. I know we will forever be with each other.
-Rashida - my partner in crime. You are the person that has always been there for me. The person that helps me when no one is around. The person that knows me and loves me even when sometimes I don't love myself. The person that brings a lot of reason to my rhyme. Our friendship is something that goes beyond being friends. In this crazy world we can talk about and do anything with each other and maintain our sanity. Our life views are so much alike that at times it seems so crazy. I love you soooo much.
-Elisa - my first friend in California. You've been there to motivate me. You've told me that I can do it even when it felt impossible. You're advice has always helped me tremendously. You've never judged me and you've always been someone I admired. You're helped me through many crazy nights when I thought the dating scene in CA had hit rock bottom for me. LOL You have given me many words of wisdom and I greatly appreciate it.
-Jenee - I think I thank you the most because without you I wouldn't know GOD the way I know him now. My life has literally been turned around because of you. You've welcomed me in your world, in your circle of friends, w/your family and that means the world to me. You've added this calmness to my wind. You have been there to support me through my family drama and my friend drama. Your happiness, faith and genuine kindness in me is why I dearly love you.
And my final personal thanks goes out to Carolyn. You have helped me so much with recognizing my professional goals. You've always believed in me and told me I could do it. You aspire me in ways where just from your words I know my dreams will come true. You've stood by me and held my hand and gave me the necessary tools to walk alone...though sometimes I stumble :) I admire your endless quotes and motivational speeches. I see a future for myself and it has a lot to do with you. Thank you!
In life there are so many people that help us. And no one person is where they are today because of just themselves. So with that being said, I want to say thank you to all my friends. Shamisi, Stacey, Denise, Pia, Selina, Audrey, Wendy, Foxy, Onica and to all of those who I didn't mention.
